What I didn't know was lost.....

..... has been found.

Ok, so it has been a while since i really cleaned my house. Apparently a LONG while. As I was cleaning out a much neglected drawer, I found this:

It has been a really long time since I've used film. I have no idea what is on this roll.

I'm afraid to get it developed.

I'm sure there are 20-24 pictures of Cameron on there. Pictures I've never seen.

Probably of days I've long forgotten, happy days with a healthy son.

Anyone wanna do it for me?

I may be....

According to this, I may actually be a runner......

But.... I am no Houdini!

I recently tried on some of these:

It was a near miracle that I got out of them & not without help on one of them! WHY WHY WHY do they have to be so difficult????

& whoever came up with the idea of "Compression Bras" is a sadist. No other explanation.

The Devil's Eggs

Samantha is so funny.

On Easter, she kept asking "what is for dinner?" Repeatedly answering her with the traditional ham, rolls, etc didn't seem to satisfy her. Finally, she asked "Are we or are we not having The Devil's Eggs??"

Sometimes it is so hard to keep a straight face!

I told her that it seems wrong to serve the Devil's Eggs on such a Holy Day so we skipped them this year!

Sami's 4th ice show....

Last night was the end of the ice skating season. This year's show was "Around the World." All of the songs were based on a different country or continent. Sami's song was "Waka Waka (This time for Africa)."

As usual, it was dark and the glass was foggy so I couldn't get any good pictures of the event- this is the best I could do:

With some flowers at the end:

Likely conspiring with Emily:

Freezing but still smiling & clutching her flowers:

Now, *I* have a couple weeks of a break before baseball season starts!

Until next time,

Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy & Ice Show! OH MY!

First I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who supported Samantha's St. Jude's Mathathon. I wrote a few weeks ago about my conflicting feelings regarding St. Jude's (scroll back a few if you missed that one). Sami is very pleased that her class was the biggest money raiser & for their efforts they are getting a pizza party in their classroom this Friday.

*************

We had a fun & busy Easter. It started very early with Sami searching for her Easter basket (the bunny always hides it at our house!). She found it in the corner behind an end table.

Cameron's last Easter (2008) was celebrated at Children's Hospital. Nothing was allowed to touch the floor so I had to be very creative in hiding his basket & eggs. His favorite Easter candy was always Reese Eggs. It is mine too.....

Next, we were off to church. Sami picked out her zebra print dress. She has always been a wee bit flashy!

After church & lunch, we were off to an egg hunt. Sami is not the best egg finder - she ran by a whole lot more eggs than she picked up!

This picture was taken Easter 2006 - Cameron loved hunting eggs too. This was the year that he found the golden egg with $20 in it!

************

Sami had been wiggling a tooth for over a week. She got to the point where she didn't want to chew on that side. She thought she could get it so the Easter Bunny & Tooth Fairy could come on the same night (just like Santa & the Tooth Fairy) but it didn't happen for her. The tooth finally came out on Monday evening. So, the Tooth Fairy got to come Monday night. Very exciting in the life of an 8 year old girl.

***********

Ice skating lessons are winding down for the season. We have 3 nights in a row coming up & then we are done. She has regular practice tomorrow, dress rehearsal on Friday & the show on Saturday. This year's theme is "Around the World." Her song is "Waka Waka (this is Africa)" by Shakira. We will have a few weeks off until baseball starts up again. There is always something going on! I love it & hope I am not too sad when it is over.

Until next time,
Lori

If only it could last......

Sami is such a sweet little girl. She is all about being with me right now. She sneaks into bed with me at night and curls against my back. She follows me into the bathroom to tell me a story about her day. She jumps into the shower with me & "shaves" her legs with her Spongebob razor. She held my hand during our nearly 2 mile walk through the neighborhood this evening.
If only it could last.

It makes me so sad to think that in just a few short years she will be a hormonal teen who thinks that I am stupid and embarassing.

Also, makes me miss my mom. I wish I had the chance to tell her so many things. To let her know that she was right all of those times I thought she was wrong.

Until next time,
Lori

I've come a LONG, LONG way!

I would have posted earlier, but I frankly did not have the strength! I was so exhausted all I could do was lay on the couch! I am still sore, but it is getting better!

This was taken minutes before the starting cannon. Yep - cannon. Even though I saw it ahead of time it still scared the crap out of me!

This was taken after the finish. I was proud to be able to stand up nearly straight!

So, me being me, I was immediately critical of my performance. Wishing that I could have taken off a few more minutes, wishing that I didn't feel as wiped as I did. Not basking in any congratulations, but feeling a bit embarassed instead.
Today, now that I am rested and hydrated, I have decided that I need to get over that. It has barely been 2 years when I went out for my first run & didn't even make it 3 miles. My first 5K was in May 2010 & I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to make it that far! But I did. And I did my 2nd 5K the very next day (poor planning on my part! I have since invested in a calendar ;)) I have probably participated in 20 5Ks, 2 10Ks and 2 Half Marathons since then! I love the race atmosphere. I still feel like a bit of an imposter at times, but no one ever makes me feel like that except for me. The running community is so supportive. I love being able to say that I am now a part of that.
Until next time,
Lori
